Mrs. Wessel Haack Dies at Hospital

Relatives and the many friends of Mrs. Wessel Haack were deeply grieved to learn of her sudden death. While she and her husband were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Haack at Grundy Center Thursday evening, she suffered a stroke five minutes after she reached the Haack home. She was taken to the Allen Memorial hospital at Waterloo at once where her condition remained critical until the end came at 3:23 Sunday morning. Mrs. Haack had suffered a stroke about a year ago from which she seemed to have entirely recovered. She was 55 years old.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday from the home and later at the Reformed church. Due to the illness of Rev. Edw. Jurgens, Rev. J. H. Rubingh, pastor of the Second Christian Reformed church here, officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the Reformed church. Attendance at the service filled all of the seating space in the large church.

Casket bearers were nephews of Mrs. Haack. They were Alfred Meyer, Marcus Meyer, Eldon Meyer, Hilbert Haack, John Frerichs and Joe Janssen.

Lived in County All of Her Life
Mrs. Haack was born on a farm in Colfax township January 5th, 1892. Her maiden name was Martha Meyer. She grew up on a Colfax township farm and in the town of Holland, where she attended school. On November 23rd, 1911 she was married to Wessel Haack. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J. E. Drake at the Colfax Presbyterian church.

The first two years of their married life the couple resided on a farm two miles south of Parkersburg. Then they moved to a farm in Colfax township which they purchased. They resided there two years, when they moved to Wellsburg, which has been their home ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Haack sold their new and modern home in Wellsburg last year and shortly after started work on a new home. This has been completed and they moved into it a few months ago.

Surviving are the husband and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Boniface Buscovick, of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Tom Flessner and Mrs. Jake Jaspers, Wellsburg. There are three grandchildren.

Other surviving relatives are one brother, Ausbrand Meyer, Grundy Center. There are two sisters living: Mrs. J. H. Meester, Holland, who is now in a Marshalltown hospital, and Mrs. Bertha Frerichs, Wellsburg. Her parents, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
