Heye Boomgarden Dies Saturday From Old Age
Heye Boomgarden died at six o'clock Saturday morning at his home in Wellsburg. He had been in failing health for a number of years and his condition the last two months was critical. Old age and complications were the cause of his death. He was 84 years, 6 months and 27 days old on the date of his death.
Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon and later at the Reformed church. Rev. Wm. Landsiedel officiated at the services. Burial was in the Reformed church cemetery.
Mr. Boomgarden was a native of Germany. He and his family came to this country and this county 40 years ago and they have resided in this locality ever since, with the exception of a short time that they lived at Laurens, Iowa. He began working on the Rock Island section, where he was employed nine years, and later engaged in farming.
Pallbearers at the service were Harm Penning, H. F. Weitcamp, Sander DeNeui, M. C. Bunger, Wessel Haack and Jurgen Lutterman.
Surviving members of his family are his wife and five sons. The sons are Heye Jr., Tade, Jake, Tinus and George.
