Evert J. Ross Dies At Hospital

Evert J. Ross died Monday afternoon at the Grundy Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient for six weeks. Death was due to cancer. He was 75 years old and had been a resident of Shiloh township all of his life.

He was born Nov. 10, 1877, on a farm in Shiloh township, and grew up there.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Evert J. Riekena, Mrs. W. H. Meyer and Mrs. Peter Bakker, all of Wellsburg. One brother, Heye, resides at Renville, Minn.

Funeral services were at the home at one o'clock on Wednesday and later at the Wellsburg Reformed church with Rev. Edw. Jurgens as the officiating pastor. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Rites Wednesday For Evert Ross

Funeral services for Evert J. Ross were held at the Mrs. Evert Riekena home and later at the Reformed church in Wellsburg last Friday afternoon and they were very largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. Edw. Jurgens. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Music was under the direction of Mrs. M. Boeke, Mrs. R. Toomsen, Mrs. C. Beecroft and Marcella Neessen. Flower attendants were Mrs. J. L. Fischer and Mrs. Woodrow Lindaman.

The pallbearers were Woodrow Lindaman, Clarence Beecroft, Claus Ross, H. L. Luwe, Fred Potter and Jack Fischer.

Obituary
Evert J. Ross was born Nov. 10, 1877, in Ostfriesland, Germany. He came to America with his parents and one sister in 1881. They located on a farm across the line in Hardin county five miles west of Wellsburg. Later they moved to a farm in Shiloh township. For 20 years they resided on a farm near Renville, Minn., where they lived until 1918 when Evert and his parents moved back to Wellsburg.

Surviving are one brothers, Heye, Renville, Minn., three sisters, Mrs. Mary Riekena, Mrs. Minnie Bakker and Mrs. Nettie Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jebbe Ross and by three sisters: Grace (Mrs. Peter Ruter), Reka (Mrs. Ben J. Riekena) and Dena (Mrs. Fred Ackerman).
