Funeral Thursday For Mrs. August Ascher, Wellsburg
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the home and 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church northeast of Wellsburg for Mrs. August Ascher Sr., 88, longtime resident of Shiloh township.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. E. A. Slottag will officiate at the service. Several of Mrs. Ascher's neighbors are to serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Ascher died Monday at her home northeast of Wellsburg, due to complications of her advanced age. She had been in poor health for some time.
Obituary
Trientje Peters, daughter of Jacob and Gepka Beving Peters, was born March 10, 1869, in southeast Iowa, but came to Grundy county with her parents at an early age.She was united in marriage to August Ascher Sr. on December 30, 1891, at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian church by Rev. H. Schmitt. Mr. Ascher died October 27, 1939.
The couple were blessed with five children, all of whom survive their mother. They are Mrs. Hilko Kolthoff, Steamboat Rock; August Ascher Jr., Wellsburg, Jacob Ascher and Mrs. John Vanderwerf, Grundy Center, and Mrs. Fred Henze, Holland.
Also surviving are three brothers and a sister, John Peters of Wellsburg, Jake Peters of Minneapolis; Anno Peters of Parkersburg; and Mrs. Anna White, Austin, Minn. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Dick.
