Mrs. Harm Harms, Old Resident, Died Thursday
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. in the home and later in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church for Mrs. Harm Harms, 83, longtime resident of Pleasant Valley and Shiloh townships and the Wellsburg community.
Rev. E. A. Slottag was in charge of the last rites Saturday. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Maria Buss was born May 26, 1873, at Forreston, Ill., the daughter of Paul and Hiskalina Buss. She came with her parents to Grundy county while still a small girl and grew to adulthood here.
She was united in marriage to Harm Harms on Oct. 14, 1893. The couple first moved onto a farm in Pleasant Valley township, occupied today by Alvin Harms, where they lived four or five years before moving to a farm in Shiloh township, where George Hoodjer now lives.
They lived in Shiloh township 14 years before moving to Bristow, where Mr. Harms passed away on March 24, 1932.
Mrs. Harms went back to the home place following her husband's death, and a few years ago moved into Wellsburg.
She died last Thursday in the Rainsbarger Nursing Home at Eldora, death due to complications of her advanced age.
Mrs. Maria Harms is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Gus Siefken of Holland, Mrs. Clarence Folkerts of Raymond, Minn., Mrs. Paul Frieling of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Henry Aalfs, Wellsburg; four sons, Paul of Custer, S.D., Harold, Eddie and Otto, all of Wellsburg; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also one brothers, John Buss of Sibley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, two brothers, one sister, and her sister.
