Henry Giesking Dies Saturday
Henry Giesking died at 6:20 on Saturday morning at his home five miles northeast of Wellsburg in Shiloh township. He had been in failing health from cancer the past year.
Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock on Tuesday and later at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church in Shiloh township. Rev. A. W. Malin officiated at the service. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. He would have been 71 years old had he lived until the 6th of next November.

Mr. Giesking was born in Germany. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Giesking. He came to this country with his parents when he was 3 years old. The family came to Grundy county and located on a farm in this locality where the children grew up.On February 8, 1905, Henry Giesking and Hermine Koch were married. For two years they lived on a farm near Grundy Center. For 43 years they resided on the same farm in Colfax township.
Surviving are the wife, three sons and one daughter. The sons are Carl from Holland; Will, of Grundy Center, and Alvin who is at home. The daughter, Mrs. Albert Hempen, lives west of Dike. There are nine grandchildren.
Other surviving relatives are three sisters and three brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Casper Wiegand, Slayton, Minn.; Mrs. Henry Conradi, Chandler, Minn.; and Mrs. Nick Heesch, Titonka, Iowa. The brothers are William G. from Cherokee; Carl, from Titonka, and Ernest from Woden. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, one son, and one sister, Mrs. William Koch.
Pallbearers at the service were nephews of the deceased. They were Melbourne Heesch, Louis Giesking, Will F. and Fred H. Koch, John J. Harms and Will Koch Jr.
There was a very large attendance at the church service.
