Mrs. William Stohr Dies Wednesday After 2nd Stroke

Mrs. William Stohr died at her home in Wellsburg at 4:30 last Wednesday afternoon, shortly after she received a second stroke. She was first stricken two weeks before and her condition was serious from that time until the end came. She was 77 years old last October.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church in Wellsburg Saturday afternoon. The services were conducted by the local pastor, Rev. Albert Ernst. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Shiloh township Lutheran church cemetery.

Was Native of Germany
Mrs. Stohr was a native of Germany. She was born October 24, 1867, at Emden. Her maiden name was Tetta Gandschaal. She came to America in 1893 and to Grundy county. The next year she was married to John Sonius at Ackley in March 1893. The husband died in November 1894. There was one child from this marriage, a daughter, Mrs. Davida Meyer. She was married to William Stohr in 1896. The couple lived on their farm in Colfax township until 1907 when they moved to Wellsburg. Mr. Stohr died in 1923. There were six children from the second marriage. One of them died in infancy. The living children are Mrs. Melvin Fletcher, Cedar Falls; William Stohr from Colfax township; Mrs. Ben Grimmius Jr. and Mrs. Leeno Grimmius of Grundy Center, and Wilhelmina from Engelwood, Colorado. There are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
