Christ Doescher, 84, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Terkmeter at Clear Lake a week ago Tuesday. Old age was largely the cause of his death. His remains were --unreadable-- to the --readable--. Services were held at the Lutheran church in Shiloh township Friday afternoon. Rev. Heinrichs --unreadable--. Burial was made --unreadable-- in the Heinrich's church cemetery.
Mr. Doescher was 84 years, 3 months and 7 days of age at the time of his death. He was born in Germany. He came to Grundy county nearly sixty years ago and lived on a farm in Pleasant Valley township for many years and he owned 400 acres of land there at the time that he retired. When he retired from the farm he and his wife moved to Parkersburg. The wife died there in 1911. For a number of years after his wife's death Mrs. Doescher continued to make his home in Parkersburg. During his later years he lived with his daughter Mrs. George Hoodjer at Shell Rock. From the first of the year up to the time of his death he made his home with his daughter at Clear Lake.
There are ten surviving children. They are John Doescher from South Dakota, Henry from Mason City, Mrs. George Newell, Mrs. Carl Teckmeter, Clear Lake, Mrs. George Hoodjer, Shell Rock, Mrs. Harry Wilson, Waterloo, Madie Doescher, Clear Lake, Albert and Christ from this county. A son, Charley, left home some twenty years ago and his present location is not known.
