Larry Newton Services Held
Larry Newton, of Grundy Center, passed away Monday, July 24, 1995, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, of natural causes, having attained the age of 58 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul C. Nelson officiating. Burial followed in Washington Township Cemetery, Morrison.
Pallbearers were David Lage, Bill Marten, Justin Marten, J. E. Miller, Darwin Finke and Maurell Pabst.
Larry Joe Newton was born August 7, 1936, in Marshalltown, the son of Fred and Josephine (Kramer) Newton. He received his education in Grundy Center, graduating from Grundy Center High School in 1954. On September 4, 1965, Larry was united in marriage to Jean Schick in Reinbeck.
Larry farmed in Grundy county. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center and the Jaycee's. He was also a 4-H Leader and coached Little League baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; two sons, Brian and wife, Karla of State Center, and Bradley and wife, Lori, of Grundy Center; one grandson, Michael and one sister, Helen Lage of Grundy.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
