Edward Beckwith Dies Suddenly

Edward Milton Beckwith passed away at his home in Morrison on Saturday morning about 5:30 o'clock, following a stroke a few hours prior to his death. He had been doctoring for high blood pressure for some time, but it was not thought to be serious.

The body was taken to the French funeral home. Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church in Morrison. Rev. Haupt, pastor of Amity church, officiated. Burial was in the Washington township cemetery. Mrs. Albert Goble and Mrs. Gleo Mooty were in charge of flowers. Casketbearers were Roscoe Brown and M. M. Bakker of Reinbeck, H. C. Buffington, J. W. Drake, Orlin Stout and Carl Mulder. Music was furnished by Mrs. Friend Miller, Mrs. M. M. Bakker and Miss Earlene Cooper.

Edward Milton Beckwith, son of Milton and Anna Beckwith, was born December 24, 1879, at Spencer, Iowa. The mother later married Prescot Bemis and the family moved to Morrison. His mother died 8 years ago. He married Nancy Elizabeth Wilson Mar. 26, 1920, in Des Moines. Most of his life was spent in Morrison where he was a carpenter by trade. He was also substitute mail carrier and town assessor. He is survived by his widow and five children: Edward Jr. in the army overseas; Donald, in the navy, somewhere on the pacific, and Loretta, Eleanore and Herbert at home. He has a brother, Ben, living in California.
