George Morrill Dies Suddenly
George Morrill died very suddenly at his home at Morrison at seven o'clock Wednesday from a heart attack. He had been out in his yard and had come into the house when he was suddenly stricken and died within a few minutes. He was 77 years old on the 26th of last March.
Mr. Morrill had been a long time resident of Morrison and was employed on the Rock Island railroad section until he reached the age of retirement.
Surviving are the wife and two sons. The funeral will be at Morrison Saturday afternoon.

George Elisha Morrill was born at Oregon, Ill., March 26, 1867. He was a son of Barnum and Charlotte Morrill. He was married to Lenora Downey, Feb. 28, 1894, at Adeline, Ill. After their marriage they moved to Belvidere, Neb., for a few years, and then to a farm near Morrison.
They moved to Morrison in Jan. 1900, where Mr. Morrill worked in the creamery until it burned. In March of the same year he started to work on the section of the B.C.R. & N. railroad and worked for 2 years, at which time the line was taken over by the Rock Island and he continued to work for that company for 35 years until on July 5, 1937, he was pensioned.
Three children survive: Vernon of Palmer, Luther and Ivan at home. His wife also survives him; two grandchildren, Mrs. Ira Mabe of Conrad and Annette Morrill of Palmer; 2 great-grandchildren, Audrey and Clifford Mabe, Conrad; one brother, Eugene of Belvidere, Neb.
Mr. and Mrs. Morrill celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 28, 1944, with a dinner in the church basement and open house.
The body was taken to Coffman funeral home. Funeral was Saturday afternoon from the Morrison church. Burial in Washington township cemetery.
Pallbearers were H. C. Buffington, Wm. Schmoranc, Lester Kahl, H. R. Stock, Wm. Mortrude and Henry Abels.
Misses Myra and Marie Jensen and Mrs. Carl Mulder had charge of the flowers.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral service were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Morrill and Annette, Palmer; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mabe, Conrad; Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Reimers, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Don Fager and Mrs. Fager, Forreston, Ill.; Mrs. Maud Downey, Reinbeck; Dale Downey and Donald Buffington, Hudson.
