Virginia V. Miller, 78, of Morrison, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 at Allen Hospital of a short illness.

She was born September 27, 1921 at Belle Plaine, the daughter of Clarence August and Lillian Rose Martenick Hinkle. sShe attended school in the Belle Plaine area and graduated from the Belle Plaine High School in 1939.

On August 11, 1940, Virginia was united in marriage to Carl Wesley Miller at the Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. They farmed in the Lime Springs area from 1952 to 1969 then moved to Cresco in 1971. There Virginia worked at the Cresco Produce and Green House and she and her husband ran "The Tavern Shack" for 14 years. She retired in 1986.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Marvin Dille; and a sister, Nadine.

Survivors include her husband, Carl, of Morrison, two sons, Terry D. of Lime Springs, and Dennis L. of Robins, five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Inabelle Koeppen of Cedar Rapids, and many more distant relatives.

Memorial services were at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the United Methodist Church, Reinbeck, with Rev. Richard Boatman officiating. Burial followed in the Washington Township Cemetery. Hand Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
