James Raith Dead.

James Raith an old settler living in Morrison died at his home Monday morning at four o'clock of heart failure. Mr. Raith was at church Sunday morning and appeared in normal health.

Mr. Raith was eighty years old. He was one of Grundy county's pioneers and one of the oldest settlers living in Morrison. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.

The funeral services were held at Morrison yesterday and the remains were laid to rest in the Morrison cemetery.

James Rait was born at Cairnhill, parish of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, July 8, 1829. He was married to Euphemia Webster, September 8, 1849 who died January 2, 1891. He came to Canada from Scotland in 1869; moved to Pennsylvania from Canada in 1871 and came to Iowa in 1882 where he has resided ever since. He had a family of four sons and two daughters: Alexander Rait, deceased; James W. Rait, of Havre, Montana; Elizabeth Rait and Mrs. G. K. Kaufman; Geo. B. Rait of Sheldon and Wm. D. Rait of Perry.

The immediate relaives of the deceased present at the funeral were James W. Rait, of Havre, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Rait of Sheldon, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Rait of son, Donald of Perry, Iowa; Mrs. M. A. Rait and family of Reinbeck, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Rait and family of Perry, Iowa; and James E. Rait of Omaha, Nebraska.
