John F. Ascher, 76, Dies At Floyd Hospital
Funeral services for John F. Ascher, 76, of Clarksville, who died Friday at the Floyd County hospital in Charles City, were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ, rural Nashua. Burial was at St. Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery northeast of Wellsburg.
Survivors are a son Harley of Clarksville; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Hauser of Clarksville and Mrs. Myrna Pope of Mason City; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Henry of Parkersburg, Harry of Grundy Center and Peter of Aplington; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Finke of Wellsburg, Mrs. Tena Riekena of Spokane, Washington and Mrs. Mildred Purvis of Iowa Falls. Mrs. Ascher was a retired area farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, also his wife, the former Martha Harms who died in November 1944.
Among those attending the funeral services Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Chris Finke, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest deNeui, Mrs. Dickie DeNeui, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harms, Mrs. Lowell Riekena, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Harms, Mrs. Roger Hippen, Mr. and Mrs. Jerald VanHeiden. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Murra of Ackley, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ascher of Grundy Center, Mrs. Melvin Vogt of Holland, Peter Ascher and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Harken of Aplington, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ascher of Parkersburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Purvis of Iowa Falls.
