Funeral services for Mrs. Christena Kolthoff, of Steamboat Rock were held Monday, October 16, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Pastor Clarence Alexander officiated at the services. Mrs. Eldon Harms was organist. Soloist was Mrs. Ronald Fisher. Flower attendants were Mrs. Darrell Bleeker and Mrs. Harold Jaspers. Ushers were Dick Huisman and I. J. Harms.
Pallbearers were Jim Roling, Robert Pingel, Alle Jaspers, Harold Jaspers, Darrell Bleeker and Dennis Kolthoff. Interment was made in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church cemetery.
Mrs. Kolthoff passed away Friday, October 13, 1978 at her home. She reached the age of 86 years, 9 months and 11 days.
Christena Ascher Kolthoff was born on January 2, 1892, and was raised to womanhood on a farm near Wellsburg in Grundy County, Iowa. She attended the rural school in the area.
On October 2, 1917 she was united in marriage to Hilko Kolthoff. To this union seven children were born, six of whom are still living. The deceased lived on the same place all of her married life on a farm in Hardin County, near Cleves.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, one son, and three grandchildren; also one brother, Jake Ascher and one sister, Mrs. Gepka Vanderwerf. Those who survive are four sons: August of Iowa Falls, Amos and Wallace both of Steamboat Rock, and Theodore of Eldora; two daughters: Mrs. Henrietta Fluth and Mrs. Catherine Richardson of Ackley; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Augusta Henze of Grundy Center; a brother, August Ascher of Wellsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home of Ackley was in charge of arrangements.
