Funeral Tues. For Mrs. A. Venenga
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Venenga were held on Tuesday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. at the home and at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Kenneth Ebb conducted services. Mrs. Elwood Doyen was soloist. Mrs. Frank Meyeraan Jr. was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Lee Etjen and Mrs. Mabel Weichers. Pall bearers were James Davis, Bernard Gene Venenga, Lee Roy Gerloff, Duane Venenga, Henry Lee Gerloff and Glenn Winkowitsch. Interment was made in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church cemetery. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Anna Venenga passed away very suddenly on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 26 at her home in Wellsburg due to an apparent heart attack. She reached the age of 76 years, 9 months and 27 days.
She was born on April 29, 1895, on a farm in Shiloh township northeast of Wellsburg, the daughter of Heinrich and Marie (Ascher) Olthoff. She attended the rural schools in the area. On December 11, 1912, she was united in marriage to Anton Venenga at the home of her parents by the Rev. C. Heinrich, pastor of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wellsburg. Following their marriage they moved to a farm in Colfax township east of Wellsburg. Six children were born to this union. On December 28, 1956 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg. Mr. Venenga passed away on Nov. 4. 1962.
Mrs. Venenga was baptized in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on July 28, 1895. She was confirmed in the same church on April 2, 1911. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church Women of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son in infancy, 1 great-grandson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Those left to mourn her passing are: 3 daughters and 2 sons: (Helen), Mrs. Lyle Davis of New Providence; Bernard Venenga of Conrad; Harvey Venenga of Marshalltown; (Arvilla), Mrs. Henry C. Gerloff of New Hartford; Mrs. Margie Ann Winkowitsch of Wellsburg; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Tena Buskohl of Leaf River, Ill. and (Lydia), Mrs. Harry Knock of Parkersburg.
