Rites Held For Martha Heinrich

Martha Heinrich, 90, passed away January 17, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 19, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Wellsburg, with Pastor Richard L. Dowling officiating.

Casket bearers were Jeff Werkman, Wake Aukes, Rob Heinrich, Dan Harringa, Tim Harringa and Steve Harringa.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Martha Christina Heinrich, the daughter of John and Kate Harms Finke, was born May 13, 1900, at Fern. She attended schools in the Wellsburg area.

On March 3, 1925, Martha was united in marriage to Carl Heinrich at the St. Paul Lutheran Church by her father-in-law, the Rev. Carl Heinrich.

Martha was an employee of the Peoples Savings Bank in Wellsburg for many years.

She was a lifetime member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Lutheran Church Women, the Amvets Auxiliary, and the World War I Auxiliary.

Martha did cross-stitching of hundreds of aprons and gave them away as gifts. She took extreme pride in her excellent German cooking, much to the satisfaction of her family and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her parents; three brothers, Chris Finke, John Finke Jr., and Charles Marquardt; three sisters, Sophie Stickfort, Lena Ross and Louise Finke; and one great-grandson, Klint Heinrich.

She is survived by one son, Clarence Heinrich, of Wellsburg; three daughters, Aurelia, Mrs. Gene Harringa of Waterloo, Ardyth, Mrs. Lewis Finch, of Evergreen, CO, and Dorene Iltis, of Clovis, CA; one brother, Ebe Finke, Wellsburg; three sisters, Minnie Schmidt, Wellsburg, Mrs. Carrian Muller, Grundy Center, and Mrs. Edna Meyer, Holland; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
