Mrs. Jurgen Stahl Funeral Wed. At Colfax Church

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Jurgen Stahl, 83, who died early Sunday morning at the Grundy Co. Memorial hospital.

Rev. Gene Straatmeyer officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music for the service was provided by soloist Mrs. Gene Straatmeyer. Miss Karen Kruger was organist. Mrs. Carl D. Janssen and Miss Hattie Terfehn were flower attendants.

Casket bearers were Donald, Calvin, Marvin and Carroll Stahl, Norman Nederhoff and Frederick Terfehn.

Mrs. Jurgen Stahl was born Harmke Harms on May 27, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruno Harms in Hardin county.

In 1904, she was united in marriage to Jurgen Stahl. They lived on several farms in the Holland area following their marriage. Mr. Stahl passed away on June 5, 1937. In 1949 she moved to Wellsburg.

She was a long time member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian church. She had faithfully attended the services of the church as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Stahl had been in failing health since July of 1964. On July 22, 1965 she was taken to the Grundy hospital for treatment. She passed away there at 4 a.m. Sunday due to carcinoma. She reached the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 11 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, three brothers, a daughter, Tena, Mrs. John Paterni, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Those left to mourn her passing are five sons and two daughters: John Stahl of Holland, Harm Stahl of Grundy Center, Bernard Stahl of Wellsburg, (Alice) Mrs. Al Bartling to Hackensack, Minn., Herman Stahl of Wellsburg, Edwin Stahl of Wellsburg, (Mabel) Mrs. C. C. Nederhoff; one brother, George of Mason City; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
