Frank Schulte Died at Nursing Home

Frank Schulte passed away on Thursday evening, Feb. 19, 1970, at the Lawn City Nursing Home in Cedar Falls due to complications of advanced age. He reached the age of 78 years and 17 days.

He was born in Grundy County, Iowa, on Feb. 2, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schulte (nee Jennie Venenga). He received his education in the rural school in the area.

On July 3, 1919 he was united in marriage to Selma Relger of Mountain Lake, Minn. Following their marriage they lived in Minnesota and later returning to Iowa.

For the past 8 years he had been confined to the nursing home in Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Selma in 1964 and 4 brothers.

He is survived by his daughter (Eulalia), Mrs. Arthur Neessen of Dike, one sister, Mrs. Tena Johnson of Aplington and 3 grandchildren.

He moved to Dike in 1949 from Wellsburg. He was engaged in the carpenter trade in Dike.

While living in Wellsburg he did various work. He was employed as the town night marshall, worked with the John Ross Road Construction crew and the Boomgaarden Road Construction crew and last was employed by Claassen Bros. Cabinet Shop.

Services were held Monday afternoon at the Doyen Funeral Home in Wellsburg with Rev. Gene Straatmeyer officiating. Interment was in the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Flag folding ceremony conducted by the Dike American Legion Post at the graveside services.
