Eilert Miller, Age 75, Dies

Eilert M. Miller of Grundy Center passed away at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, April 7 at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, on Tuesday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Arthur G. Ames officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Tomm Simms sang "Safe In the Arms Of Jesus" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." They were accompanied by Mrs. Larry Stahl, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were James Syhlman, Rick Mast, Ray Wilson, Vernon Heerkes, Roger Muller and Wendel Muller.

Ushers were Herman Akkerman and Art Slifer. Mrs. Joseph Junker and Mrs. Irvin Dieken were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Colfax Center Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends were invited to return to the church following the committal services for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Mr. Miller was born February 21, 1910 on a farm in Colfax township, Grundy county, the son of Sievert and Reka Eckhoff Muller. He attained the age of 75 years, one month and 16 days. He grew up on a farm in Colfax township.

On February 16, 1937, at the Colfax Center Church, he was united in marriage to Minnie Niehaus. After their marriage they worked for 10 years for Ubbie Peterson and two years for Herman Beninga as hired help. Then they farmed in Grundy county for 25 years. On March 8, 1974, they moved and made their home in Grundy Center.

He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church since April 10, 1938.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Marvin, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie, of Grundy Center; his son and daughter-in-aw, Alvin and Gloria Miller of Grundy Center; five sisters, Mrs. Tena Raske, Mrs. Jennie Tjepkes, Mrs. Kate Syhlman, Mrs. Wilbert (Anna) Wilson and Mrs. Loyd (Frieda) Mast, all of Grundy Center; three brothers, Hans Muller, Sievert Muller and Raymond Muller, all of Grundy Center.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home of Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
