Services For Molendorp At Colfax Church

Funeral services for Jerry Molendorp were held on Monday, December 30, at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church of rural Holland. Pastor Arthur Ames officiated at the services.

A men's quartet, Marvin Nederhoff, Dean Harrenstein, Dwayne Sents and Orlen Kruger sang two selections and were accompanied by Mrs. Larry Stahl.

Mrs. Raymond Hinders provided organ music.

Ushers were John Seehusen and Art Slifer. Flower attendants were Mrs. Donald Ross and Mrs. Harley Freese.

Casket bearers were Larry Andreessen, William L. Keller, Calvin Spree, Roger Aukes, Harley Freese and Donald Ross. Interment services were held in the Colfax Presbyterian Church cemetery.

The Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mr. Molendorp passed away at 11:12 a.m. Thursday, December 26, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, where he had been admitted a short time earlier. He reached the age of 73 years, 2 months and 29 days.

He was born on a farm in German township, northwest of Wellsburg, on September 27, 1912, the son of Helmer and Meintdena (Huisman) Molendorp. He received his education in the rural school in the area and also attended Wellsburg high school for two years. On November 25, 1935, he was married to Elizabeth Maas and they made their home on a farm northwest of Wellsburg. Mrs. Molendorp passed away on May 6, 1968.

On August 28, 1970, he was married to Tena Bronsema and they made their home on the farm until 1977 at which time they moved to Parkersburg.

Jerry was a long-time member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church of Holland and also had served on the Church Session.

He farmed for several years, worked for Junker Dairy in Wellsburg for 20 years, and he and Tena operated the Wellsburg Drive-In from 1971 to 1974.

He became a resident of the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington on October 28th of this year.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife, Elizabeth; his son, Gary Dean, on October 31, 1985, and one brother, Conrad Molendorp.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Tena, of Parkersburg; a daughter, Jane, and her husband Dale Kelley of Troy, MO; a son, Bill Molendorp of Columbia, MO; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Kelley, both of Troy, MO, and many other relatives and friends.
