Gertrude Bernice Getting, 87, of Grundy Center died November 9 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. Funeral services were November 14 at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, in rural Holland. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Gertie was born April 5, 1918, in Grundy County, the daughter of Ben and Fannie (Franken) Buskohl. Gertie attended Colfax No. 5 country school until the eighth grade. On September 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harvey Getting at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Harvey passed away March 1, 2004. Gertie was a lifelong member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, and the Women's Society for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey; her parents; and a brother, Jake Buskohl.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Ben Buskohl of Bloomers, WI, Jeanne Buskohl of North Hollywood, CA, Mark and wife Nancy Buskohl of Grundy Center, Ila and husband Dale Wiersma of Holland, MI, Harley and wife Jeri Getting of Hibbing, MN, Jim and wife Brenda Getting of Grundy Center, and Jerry and wife Lori Schoolman of Holland,; great nieces and nephews, Sara and Nathan Wiersma, Todd and Keri Schoolman, Caleb and wife Candace Buskohl, and Philip Buskohl.
