Funeral Services For Henry Paterni Held On Wednes.

The funeral services for Henry Paterni, 73, of Wellsburg, were held at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Rev. Gideon Wolbrink officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Special music consisted of a duet by Mrs. Robert Valentine and Mrs. Douglas Geerdes. Mrs. Harold Lindaman was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Donald Purvis and Mrs. Will Janssen.

Casket bearers were John Olthoff, Alvin Smit, George Heronimus, Clarence Paterni, Stanley and Lawrence Paterni.

Henry Paterni passed away shortly after 9 o'clock Monday morning, September 9, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington following a lingering illness. He reached the age of 73 years, 5 months and 18 days.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh Township southeast of Wellsburg on March 21, 1895, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Paterni (nee Malena Wolters). He received his education in the rural school in the area. On February 16, 1916 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Olthoff by the Rev. William Landsiedel. To this union were born 4 daughters. Following their marriage they lived on a farm south of Wellsburg. In 1941 they moved to a farm place northeast of Wellsburg. In 1955 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg.

On March 2 of 1965 he was taken seriously ill from which he never fully recovered. He spent several weeks in the hospital after which he was taken to the nursing home for confinement.

He was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on May 15, 1932.

He was preceded by: his parents, 3 infant sisters, a daughter, Sadie at the age of two, an infant daughter, one brother, Richard, who passed away June 2, 1961 and a sister, Hattie Paterni, who passed away July 28, 1967.

Those left to mourn his passing are: his wife, Anna, 2 daughters, (Lena), Mrs. John Hook of Aplington, Miss Genevieve Paterni of Wellsburg; 2 sisters and 8 brothers, Remmer Paterni of Des Moines; Otto Paterni of Aplington; (Henrietta), Mrs. George Hoodjer of Wellsburg; John Paterni of Grundy Center; George Paterni of Wellsburg; (Jennie), Mrs. Richard Rieken of Ackley; Herman Paterni of Parkersburg; Lenus Paterni of Wellsburg; Sam Paterni of Eldora; Jake Paterni of Wellsburg; 2 granddaughters and 1 great-grandchild.
