Funeral Services Held Thursday For Mrs. A. Schoorman

Mrs. Anna Schoorman passed away around 10 o'clock Monday evening, Sept. 21, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to complications following surgery. She had been taken to the hospital in Grundy Center on Aug. 31 for treatment and transferred to Waterloo on Sept. 1st for further treatment. She reached the age of 79 years and 21 days.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1891, in Chicago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Muller (nee Tena DeVeen). At an early age her family moved to Grundy County, Iowa and lived on a farm south of Wellsburg. She attended the Wellsburg Grade School.

She was united in marriage to Charles Zech on October 5, 1909 in Wellsburg. They lived in Wellsburg following their marriage. Mr. Zech passed away on Sept. 10, 1937. On Nov. 28, 1940, she was married to William Schoorman, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having been received by letter of transfer from the Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Iowa. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society.

She was preceded by her parents, her husband, 1 son in infancy, 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Those left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Julius Zech of Altoona, Walter Zech of Ft. Dodge; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman and Walter Miller, both of Ft. Worth, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at the Reformed Church. Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Mrs. Robert Valentine sang two duet numbers, accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen, organist. Mrs. Andrew Ohling and Miss Tena Riebkes were flower attendants. Pall bearers were Arnold Arends, Lester Huisman, Ralph Huisman, Clarence Geerdes, George Geerdes and Douglas Geerdes.
