Rites Thursday For Miss Jennie Schafer

Funeral services for Jennie J. Schafer were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the Reformed Church.

Rev. Gideon Wolbrink was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Mrs. Irwin Abels sang two duet numbers accompanied by Marcella Neessen on the organ. Flower attendants were Mrs. John Heinrich and Mrs. Margaret Lindaman.

Pallbearers were Hilko Schafer, Kenneth Rhoads, Edward Ubben, Marvin Schafer, Gerald Schafer and Kenneth Winters. Interment was made in the Reformed Church cemetery.

Jennie J. Schafer passed away around 8 o'clock Monday morning, May 4, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington due to complications of advanced age. She reached the age of 82 years and 29 days.

She was born in Wellsburg on April 5, 1888, the daughter of John A. Hester Loof Schafer. She attended the Wellsburg school.

She was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having made confession of her faith in Jesus Christ on December 7, 1947.

She lived in Wellsburg most of her life and since July 10, 1968 she made her home in the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Ida, Mrs. Rheiner Aalfs, 2 brothers, John and Henry Schafer.

Those left to mourn her passing are her daughter, Irene, Mrs. Harm R. Hook of Grundy Center; 1 brother, Arend Schafer of Wellsburg, 1 sister (Tena), Mrs. Carl Madson of Hubbard.
