Aeilt Terfehn Services Held
Aeilt Terfehn, 81, passed away on Thursday, May 17, at the Grundy Care Center, where he had been a resident since March of 1987.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Rev. Verlyn Boone officiating.
Marcella Neessen was the organist, and the duet of Barb Abels and Whitey Ross sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Robert White, Fred Terfehn, Steve King, Michael Braland, Lyndsey Terfehn and Tim Laughlin.
Ushers were Donald Ross and Arnold Arends. Alice Ruter and Nancy Riebkes were in charge of the floral arrangements.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Aeilt Terfehn, son of Fred and Rieka Neessen Terfehn, was born November 12, 1908, on a farm 1/2 mile east of Wellsburg. He attended Wellsburg Public Schools.
On December 2, 1936, Aeilt was united in marriage to Lena Eckhoff at the Reformed Church parsonage in Wellsburg. They farmed until 1955, then moved to Wellsburg, where Aeilt became Town Marshal, and served his community in that position for 18 years before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Anton, and one sister, Anna.
Aeilt is survived by his wife Lena, of Wellsburg; three sons, Arden Larry, of Austinville, Ronald Paul, Ames, and Kenneth Floyd, Vinton; one sister Hattie Terfehn, Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the professional arrangements.
