Services Held For Martha Peters

Martha Peters passed away Saturday, November 4, 1995, at the Long Term Care Unit of Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, of natural causes. She attained the age of 95 years, three months and eight days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7, at 1:30 p.m., at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Pastor Verlyn Boone officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Edwin Ascher, James Ascher, Harvin Meyer, Larry Meyer, Eugene Ruter and Marvin Stahl.

A memorial fund has been established.

Born July 27, 1900, near Parkersburg, Martha was the daughter of Claus and Martha Slight Iblings. She attended the rural school in the Parkersburg area.

On February 11, 1921, Martha was united in marriage to Jake H. Peters. One son, Harris, and one daughter, Nedra, were born to this union.

Martha and Jake began farming on the Peters' family farm in Shiloh township northeast of Wellsburg until Mr. Peters' death on October 21, 1974. Martha resided on the farm until December 22, 1988, when she entered the Long Term Care Unit of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, where she lived until the time of her death.

Martha attended the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Her interests included cooking, baking, flowers, gardening and needlework.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake; one son, Harris J. Peters, on January 28, 1984; one daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Nedra) Koch, on November 10, 1980; two brothers, Earl and Carl Iblings and three sisters, Mrs. Grace Huisman, Mrs. Annette Joseph and Mrs. Matilda Vietor.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Harris Peters and her son-in-law, Darrell Koch, both of Wellsburg; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
