Marvin Stahl, 65, of Wellsburg, died April 8, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. April 11 at Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Wellsburg AMVETS Post No. 91 and American Legion Post No. 213. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family will be present on Wednesday to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.

Marvin was born January 7, 1937, in Eldora, the son of Herman H. and Grace (Bunger) Stahl. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1955. On December 12, 1958, Marvin was united in marriage to Anna Mae Schipper at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. In 1960, Marvin was drafted into the United States Army. He served until 1962 and was then honorably discharged.

Marvin farmed his entire life on a farm just east of Wellsburg. In 1999, he retired from farming and he and Anna Mae moved to Wellsburg. Marvin then worked for MD Meyer Seeds for a few years in Eldora.

Marvin was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church where he had served a few terms on the Consistory. He had been a past president of the Wellsburg Community Club and he enjoyed bowling. Marvin enjoyed his grandchildren very much.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae of Wellsburg; three sons, Donald Stahl and his wife Annette of Wellsburg, Rodney Stahl of Holland and Darwin Stahl and his wife Nancy of Wellsburg; one daughter, Judy Eiten and her husband Craig of Wellsburg; six grandchildren; one sister, Doris Swenson and her husband Roger of Jewell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
