Donna J. (Johns) Abbas Doyen, 71, of Wellsburg, died November 8 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley, from complications of ALS. Funeral services were November 11 at Wellsburg Reformed Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Donna was born March 1, 1932, in Ackley, the daughter of Robert H. and Luella M. (Lang) Johns. She attended Colo High School in Colo and graduated in 1950. After graduation, Donna worked at Lenox Manufacturing in Marshalltown for a short time. In 1952, Donna was united in marriage to George Abbas in Ackley. After the wedding they moved to Wichita, KS, where Donna worked for Boeing Aircraft. Donna and George then moved to Chicago, IL, so that George could attend Worsham Mortuary School. After spending a year in Lake Mills, Donna and George bought a funeral home in Denver and together they operated the Matthias-Abbas Funeral Home. After a number of years, they sold the funeral home in Denver and moved to Ackley for a year. Then, in 1968, George and Donna moved to Grundy Center and purchased a funeral home there. Together they owned and operated the Ferree-Abbas Funeral Home until George's death in 1969. On June 6, 1970, Donna was united in marriage to John Joseph Doyen at John's home in Wellsburg. Donna helped John with the family business, Doyen Funeral Home, until his retirement in 1986. Donna was a member of Wellsburg Reformed Church, and was blessed with an unwavering faith in God. She had also been a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Donna loved music and animals.

She is survived by one daughter, Monica Kruse and her husband Bob of Conrad; one son, Joseph Doyen of Wellsburg; three step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin "Bud" Johns and his wife Lorna of Des Moines, Douglas Johns of Colo; two sisters, Charlene Tanner and her husband Tom of Washington and LaVonne Johnson of Iowa City; and nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Abbas; her husband, John Doyen; her parents; two brothers, Paul Johns and Robert Johns, Jr.; two sisters, Grace Sietsema and Pearl Thompson; and two siblings in infancy.
