Winifred "Winnie" Niven Huisman, 87, of Wellsburg, died September 17, at Ackley Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services were September 20, at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Burial was at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Winnie was born November 13, 1916, the daughter of William and Anna (Frees) Niven in Hampton. Winnie received her education in the Hampton School System and graduated from Hampton High School in 1935. She moved to the Wellsburg area in 1935 and worked for Bud Tjaden, Harvey Vahlsing, Herman Haak, Herman Hook, and Jake Lindaman. On September 1, 1940, Winnie was united in marriage to Tyle Huisman in Ely. Winnie also taught school for one year and was employed by Plastronics in Grundy Center for eighteen and a half years. Winnie's husband Tyle died April 21, 1996. Winnie was a resident of the Ackley Presbyterian village for the past seven years.

Winnie was a member of Wellsburg Reformed Church. Winnie had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, and she also enjoyed making crafts.

She is survived by one son, Keith Huisman and his wife Ruth of Lowell, AR; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tyle; two brothers, Pat and Albert Niven; and three sisters, Ann Estep, Kate Woodley, and Letha Douglas.
