Dana Niehaus, 22, of Wellsburg, died of a gunshot wound to the stomach Monday morning at a Hardin county farmstead.

According to Hardin County Sheriff Loren Goodknight, at approximately 10 a.m. Monday morning his office was notified of an apparent gunshot victim approximately five miles southeast of Eldora.

Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning had been pursuing the Niehaus vehicle southbound on S-75 from Highway 175 when the vehicle pulled over into a farmstead driveway in Hardin County. Sheriff Penning had just completed a motorist assist prior to the pursuit.
