Mrs. W. Riekena Dies Saturday

Mrs. W. W. Riekena died at her home in Wellsburg at 3:45 Saturday afternoon. She had been in failing health for several years. She suffered a stroke about six years ago and her former health was impaired since that time. Immediate cause of her death was cerebral hemorrhage. She had been bedfast the past three months. She was 59 years old on July 13th.

Mrs. Riekena's maiden name was Albertha Ross. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evert A. Ross. She was born and grew up on a Shiloh township farm. On May 30, 1917, she and Weert W. Ross were married. They resided on a Shiloh township farm until 1936 when they moved to Wellsburg where they since resided.

Immediate members of her family who survive are her husband, three daughters: Mrs. Ibling W. Harms, Ackley; Mrs. Raymond Junker, Aplington; Mrs. Elmer Korte, West Branch, Iowa. One son, Willard has been at home with his parents. There are 14 grandchildren.

Other surviving members of her family are five sisters: Mrs. John G. Bakker, Wellsburg; Mrs. Ebbo Heikens, Wellsburg; Mrs. John Miller, Dike; Mrs. Dena Harms, Wellsburg; Mrs. Heike Miller, of Marshalltown; three brothers, Evert and Albert Ross, Wellsburg; Will Ross, Armstrong. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Mrs. L. G. Bakker and Mrs. Will Mudderman.

Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the John Doyen home and later at the 2nd Christian Reformed church. Burial was in the Shiloh cemetery.
