Marvin Arnold Riebkes, 77, of Wellsburg, died from respiratory failure on Saturday, March 3 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6 at the United Reformed Church in Wellsburg (formerly Christ Covenant Church). Pastor Bruce Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Shiloh Cemetery.

He was born February 23, 1924 in rural Grundy County, son of John and Bertha (Vanderwerf) Riebkes. He was united in marriage to Carol Jones at the East Friesland Church Parsonage. He worked at various jobs, his last at Gelder Auto Salvage, retiring in 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Wellsburg; two daughters, Peg and her husband Ken DeBerg and Kathy Riebkes, both of Wellsburg; a son, Rick and his wife Susan Riebkes of Wellsburg; four grandchildren, Ryan and wife Melissa Buseman of Holland, Robbyn Buseman of Wellsburg and Trista and Tasha Riebkes of Wellsburg; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Kasey Buseman of Holland; and three sisters, Anna Mae Deters and Elnora Nichols of Wellsburg and Frances Nymeyer of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Tyson Riebkes; and a brother, Calvin Riebkes.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
