Jennie Niehaus Dies At Hospital
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Niehaus were held Monday afternoon at the Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. Clergymen were Rev. Donald Patet of Aplington and Rev. Gideon Wolbrink. Two duet numbers were sung by Mrs. Douglas Geerdes and Mrs. Robert Valentine accompanied by Miss Marcella Neessen, organist. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Kenneth Adams and Mrs. Walter Block. Pall bearers were Donald Lindaman, Harvey Tack, Melvin Tack, Jerry Spieker, Henry Spieker and Fred Spieker. Interment was made in Shiloh cemetery.
Mrs. Jennie Niehaus passed away around 10:30 Thursday evening at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center due to complications of advanced age. She had been taken to the hospital in the afternoon for treatment. She reached the age of 80 years, 2 months and 10 days.
She was born on a farm in German township north of Wellsburg on August 24, 1891, the daughter of Henry B. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Lindeman. She attended the rural school in the area. On February 18, 1914, she was united in marriage to Minert D. Niehaus. Following their marriage they moved to a farm 5 miles south of Aplington. In 1934 they moved to the farm north of Wellsburg and in 1951 they retired and moved to Wellsburg. This union was blessed with one son, Delbert. Mr. Niehaus passed away January 2, 1965.
Mrs. Niehaus became a member of the Aplington Baptist Church in June of 1920.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 5 sisters.
Those left to mourn her passing are: one son, Delbert of Wellsburg; one grandson, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Etta Tack of Wellsburg, (Fannie), Mrs. Jake A. Brechwald of Ft. Dodge and Henry H. Lindeman of Aplington.
