Family Mourns Death Of Mrs. Kannegieter

Fannie Kannegieter passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 28, 1977, at the Valley View Nursing Center in Eldora, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, October 1, 1977, at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman. Mrs. Ivan Slifer and Mrs. Harold Okones sang two duet numbers. Mrs. Esther Beecroft was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. H. L. Luwe and Mrs. Jake Hippen. Pallbearers were Henry Richard Vanderzyden, Glen Handlogten, John Handlogten, Mark DeVries, Michael DeVries, and Matthew DeVries. Interment was made in Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kannegieter was born in Shiloh township, northwest of Wellsburg, on November 8, 1904, the daughter of Johannes and Catherine (Jaspers) deNeui. Her education was in the rural Shiloh No. Two School, and the Wellsburg High School.

She was united in marriage to Henry J. Kannegieter at the home of her parents, on January 28, 1926, by the Rev. C. Holtrop. Following their marriage the Kannegieters lived on a farm east of Cleves for seven years. They moved to his parents farm in German township in 1933 and 3 years later to a farm in Shiloh township northwest of Wellsburg. In 1956, this farm was sold and they moved to Wellsburg.

Mrs. Kannegieter was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg. She was baptized upon the confession of her faith on December 28, 1924. Fannie was a long time member of the Willing Workers Society of the Church.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, an infant brother and her brother, John.

The following are left with memories of her: Henry, her husband, 3 daughters; Verda, (Mrs. Henry G.) Vanderzyden of Eldora, Mary, (Mrs. Howard) Handlogten of Rockford, Illinois, and Martha, (Mrs. Marvin) DeVries of Madison, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Floy Bergman of Wellsburg; 5 brothers, Abe of Wellsburg, Jay of Cedar Falls, Roy of Wellsburg, Ernest of Wellsburg and Herman of Cedar Rapids and many other relatives and friends.
