Services Held For Sophie Beecroft
Funeral services for Mrs. Sophie Beecroft were held on Wednesday afternoon, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. Pastor John H. Elenbaas officiated at the service. Mrs. Ivan Slifer and Mrs. Harold Okones sang two duet numbers accompanied by Mrs. LuRay Neessen, organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Mayo Tjaden and Mrs. John Boekhoff Jr. Pall bearers were Virgil Byl, Henry Kannegieter, Roy deNeui, Delbert J. Lindaman, Mayo Tjaden and John R. Hoodjer. Interment was made in Shiloh cemetery.
Mrs. Beecroft passed away around 9 o'clock Sunday evening, March 11 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center following a lingering illness. She had been a patient in the Extended Care Section of the hospital since February 17th. She reached the age of 88 years and 4 days.
She was born in Wellsburg on March 7, 1885, the daughter of John and Margaret (Glaser) Freerksen. She received her education in the Wellsburg grade school. On April 6, 1904, she was united in marriage to Thomas T. Beecroft. Following their marriage they made their home in Wellsburg. She spent her entire life in Wellsburg. Mr. Beecroft passed away in 1927.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mary, 2 sons, Clarence and Theodore; 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Those left to mourn her passing are: 4 daughters: (Margaret) Mrs. Ralph Johnson of Alden; Miss Ordie Beecroft of Wellsburg; (Doris) Mrs. Homer Aiken of Everett, Washington; (Junice) Mrs. Herman Groote of Holland; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
