Claus Janssen Services Held
Claus "Bud" A. Janssen, 76, of Wellsburg, died Saturday, February 7, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of natural causes.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 9, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Pastor Thomas Vos officiating. Burial followed in the church cemtery. Full military rites were conducted by the Wellsburg Amvets Post #91 and American Legion Post #213. A memorial fund has been established.
Bud was born on February 15, 1921, the son of Will J. and Ada (Ruter) Janssen in Wellsburg. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1937 and later served in the Army in WWII. On June 16, 1944, he was united in marriage to Hilda Dirks at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. He had been a dairy farmer in the Wellsburg area all his life.
Bud was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg, Amvets Post #91 and American Legion Post #213.
Bud is survived by his wife Hilda of Wellsburg; 3 sons, William and wife Billie of Wellsburg, Robert and wife Cathy of Grundy Center and Charles of Wellsburg; 1 daughter, Jean Anderson and her husband Bill of Cedar Falls; 1 daughter-in-law, Jean Janssen of Grundy Center; 1 brother, John B. Janssen and his wife Harriett of Wellsburg; 1 sister, Janet Williams of Wellsburg; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister in infancy; and a son, Donald.
