Services In Wellsburg For William Bakker
William L. Bakker of rural Grundy Center, passed away Saturday, January 27, 1996, at his home of natural causes, having attained the age of 82 years, 7 months and 11 days.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 1996, at the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Thomas Vos officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and at the church one hour prior to the services. A memorial fund has been established.
Pallbearers will be Dean Bakker, Lloyd Eekhoff, Steve Haverkamp, Darrell Freese, LuVerne Freese, and Darwin Stahl.
Born March 16, 1913, on a farm in Hardin County, Iowa, William was the son of Louis and Grace (Ross) Bakker. William grew up and received his education in Hardin County. He farmed in Grundy County all his life.
Bill was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in rural Wellsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Menno, George, and Evert; one sister, Luella Bakker; and one sister-in-law, Lenora Bakker.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Isabelle Bakker of Eldora; one nephew, LuVerne Bakker and wife Charlotte of Grundy Center; one great-nephew, Dean Bakker of Parkersburg; and two great-nieces, Nancy Stahl of Wellsburg, and Kathy Bakker of Grundy Center.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
