Mrs. John O'Kones Died Thursday In Hospital

Mrs. John O'Kones died at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown Thursday morning. She was taken to the hospital a week before where she was operated upon for hernia. Gangrene set in following the operation which resulted in her death. She was 71 years old.

Mrs. O'Kones was a lifelong resident of this community. Her maiden name was Antje Nederhoff. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nederhoff and was born and grew up on the home farm west of Wellsburg. She was born January 6, 1872. She was married in 1900 to John O'Kones. They moved on a farm about five miles southeast of Wellsburg and lived there continually. Mr. O'Kones died about three years ago.

Funeral services were held at the First Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Louis Voskuil. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the Reformed church in Wellsburg.

Surviving are three children. The only son Harold is at home. The two daughters are Mrs. Kobus Borchers from Cleves and Mrs. Albert VanDeest from New Hartford. Other surviving relatives are one brother, Carl Nederhoff, and Mrs. Harm O'Kones, both living in this vicinity.
