Grace Luppen Services Held
Grace Luppen, 76, passed away on Monday, September 17, at her home in Wellsburg.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg, with Rev. Thomas J. Vos officiating.
Casket bearers were Larry Meyer, Harvin Meyer, Dean Huisman, Rollin Primus, Cliff Johnson and Eldon Nederhoff.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Grace Eddina Luppen, daughter of Oldig O. and Ada Dresselhuis Nederhoff, was born March 21, 1914, at home in Grundy County. She attended school at the Pine Creek School #9, where she completed 8th grade.
On September 11, 1935, Grace was united in marriage to Fred Luppen at the parsonage of the First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Grace and Fred farmed southwest of Wellsburg until their retirement in 1978, when they moved into Wellsburg. Fred and Grace celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1986.
Grace's hobbies included caring for flowers and visiting the shut-ins in nursing homes. She sold greeting cards for 20 years for the Timothy Sisters, and consequently was called the "Card Lady."
She was active in the church, and a lifelong member of the Queen Esther Circle, Life Group, and the Timothy Sisters.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents, and one sister Etta, Mrs. Julius Heikens.
She is survived by one daughter, Erma, Mrs. Ron Klaasen; two grandchildren, Laura and Brian; three brothers, Ed, Carl, and Willis Nederhoff, all of Wellsburg; four sisters, Ordie, Mrs. Harold Eekhoff, Francis, Mrs. Claus Primus, Inez, Mrs. Rodney Deters, and Donna Mae, Mrs. Alvin Blythe, all of Wellsburg.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
