A. L. Bunger, Lifelong Area Farmer, Dead

Aldrich L. Bunger passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 30, 1981 at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital in Marshalltown due to a heart attack during surgery being performed for an aneurysm. He had been taken to the hospital earlier in the day after becoming ill at his farm home. He reached the age of 80 years, 6 months and 22 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 2, at 11 a.m. at the Wellsburg Reformed Church with Pastor Huitink officiating.

Pastor and Mrs. Roger Huitink sang two selections, with Marcella Neessen accompanying. Mrs. Kenny Bunger and Mrs. Basil Snyder were flower attendants.

Pallbearers were Kenny Bunger, Basil Snyder, Al Blythe, Eugene Ruter, Leland Heinrich and Kenneth VanHauen.

Burial was in the First Christian Reformed Church cemetery.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh township, Grundy county, southeast of Wellsburg, on June 8, 1901, the son of Lambert C. and Grace (Ruter) Bunger. He attended the rural school in the area and lived on the home place farm all of his life.

Aldrich was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church, having joined by Confession of Faith on December 18, 1938.

He was preceded in death by his mother, who passed away on December 31, 1939; his father, who passed away on January 13, 1955; his brother, Coert L. Bunger, who passed away at Camp Pike, Ark. on October 6, 1918; and his sister, Gepka Bunger, who passed away on May 15, 1971.

He is survived by numerous cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Doyen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
