Lillian Heronimus Services Held

Lillian Heronimus, 76, of Grundy Center, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland on Friday, August 18, at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Loren J. Kotman officiated.

Matthew LeClere sang "Without Him" and "Grace Greater Than Our Sin." The accompanist was Marcia Heronimus, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Randall Bakker, Jerry Bakker, David Heronimus, T.J. Heronimus, Paul Schoon, Jay Browers and Irwin Abels.

Ushers were Edwin Brower and Coolie Hinders. Agnes Hinders and IvaDell Getting were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in the Colfax Center Church Cemetery, rural Holland.

Lillian A. Heronimus was born on March 20, 1913, at Holland, the daughter of Heye and Alice Franken Heronimus. After graduating from local schools, she attended Gates Business College in Waterloo for one term, and Cedar Valley Bible Institute in Waterloo, taking evening classes for two years.

She was an employee of the Holland Farmers Savings Bank office. In 1953, she resigned as manager of the office to accept a call to the Indian Mission Field at Rehoboth, New Mexico, under the Board of the Christian Reformed Church. She served there for 15 years as manager of the office at the Rehoboth Mission Hospital. Due to her condition, she left the Mission Field in 1968, and returned to this area to be near her family. She was then employed at the Grundy Medical Clinic in Grundy Center until her retirement in 1972.

Lillian was a member of the Holland Christian Reformed Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother, Harold, one brother Tom, and one sister, Gertrude Hansen.

She is survived by two brothers, Paul, of El Paso, TX, and George, of Holland; seven sisters, Mrs. Hazel Abels and Mrs. Tena Schoon, both of Holland, Mrs. Ella Paterni, Mrs. Henry (Elma) Siefken, Mrs. DeLoris Bakker, all of Grundy Center, Mrs. Alfred (Mae) Brower, Ackley, and Mrs. John (IvaDean) Itzen, of Cedar Falls; and by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
