Services Held Saturday For Charles Harberts

Charles Wesley Wayne Harberts of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 1996, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa, of natural causes, having attained the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Born May 29, 1917, in rural Holland, Iowa, Charles was the son of Fred and Lena (Casjens) Harberts. He was educated in rural Grundy County, and, on January 28, 1943, he was united in marriage to Janet Mulder. Charles and Janet farmed in Grundy County until February of 1980, when they retired and moved into Grundy Center. Charles was a life-long member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; one daughter, Vivian Princehouse of Montour; five sisters, Delia Rust, Cora Slifer, Ruth Ascher, all of Grundy Center, Isabelle Eiklenborg of Dike, and Carolyn Harberts of Grundy Center; four brothers, Reverend Dick (Enola) Harberts of Waterloo, Russell (Merelyn) Harberts of Hudson, and Floyd Harberts and Alfred Harberts, both of Grundy Center; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, 1996, at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa, with the Reverend Larry C. Hoop officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.

Pallbearers were Verne Eberline, Donald Ennenga, Dean Harrenstein, Jake Heeren, Dennis Hook, and Charles Thoren.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
