Mrs. Ann Franken Dies At Hospital

Mrs. Annie Franken died at the Deaconess hospital at nice o'clock Friday morning. She was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage six weeks ago and she was a patient in Deaconess hospital at Marshalltown from that time until her death. Her husband, Andrew Franken, died in the same hospital quite suddenly December 26, 1939. Mrs. Franken's condition remained critical during the weeks that she was a hospital patient.

The body was brought to the Engelkes funeral home in Grundy Center. Services were at the funeral home at one o'clock Monday and later at Bethany Presbyterian church. Rev. F. J. Langenberg officiated at the service. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Grew Up in Colfax Township
Mrs. Franken's maiden name was Annie Dirks. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Dirks. She was born and grew up on a Colfax township farm. On Nov. 20, 1912, she and Andrew Franken were married. They resided on the Rabenberg farm five miles north of Grundy Center until they moved to Grundy Center in 1925.

Mr. and Mrs. Franken had no children. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ella Dirks, Grundy Center, and some nephews and nieces.
