Harold John Everts, 74, of Grundy Center, passed away on November 5 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit.

Funeral services were held November 7 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at a later date. Pastor Hoop officiated. A memorial fund is being established.

Harold was born on September 28, 1927, the son of Andrew and Helen (Stickfort) Everts. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 8, 1950 and he was discharged on October 29, 1952. He was united in marriage to Leona Meyer at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland. She passed away on March 6, 1984. He was a surveyor for Grundy County for many years. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church for many years where he served one term as a Deacon and three terms as an Elder of the Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona; his parents; and an infant brother.

Survivors include his son, Mark and his wife Lidia Everts of San Antonio, TX; three daughters, Betty and husband David Oltman of Spencer, Nancy and husband Vernon Beenken of Wichita, KS and Judy and husband Donovan Appel of Grundy Center; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
