James Weatherly Died February 17

James Weatherly, 71, of RR1, Grundy Center, died Tuesday morning, February 17, 1981 at the Marshalltown Area Community Hospital where he had been a patient for the past few days.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 19 at the Alice Church of God, rural Conrad, with the Rev. Gerald Gibson officiating. Soloist was Mrs. Katie Ferris, accompanied by Mrs. Dale Callaway.

Casket bearers were Harold Frohwein, Robert Russie, Ron Reece, Dean Reece, Bob Schradle and Wallace Reinert. Flower bearers were Mrs. Walter Neuroth, Mrs. Harold Frohwein and Becky Weatherly. Interment was in the Alice Cemetery, rural Conrad.

James was born September 6, 1909 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of John Fletcher and Engel (Okken) Weatherly. On June 10, 1933 he was united in marriage to Marie A. Shepherd in Waterloo, Iowa. Before retiring he had been an over-the-road driver.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Merle of Conrad, Don of Beaman, Ron of Conrad and Richard of Mitchellville; one brother, Bert of Long Term Care Center, Grundy Center; and nine grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one son and one daughter, both in infancy; one sister and six brothers.

The Johnston Funeral Home of Conrad was in charge of arrangements.
