Rites Held For Gladys Veld

Funeral services for Gladys L. Veld were held Tuesday, May 29, 1990, at 1:30 p.m. at Alice Church of God, rural Conrad. Rev. James Snare officiated.

A duet was sung by Mary Ralston and Cora Katzer. They were accompanied by Dorothy Callaway.

Casket bearers were Scott Veld, James Padgett, Richard Bockes, Russell Katzer, Lee Hogle and Tim Hammond.

Mildred Katzer and Marjorie Stover served as flower bearers.

Burial was in Alice Cemetery, rural Conrad.

Gladys Veld was born on October 17, 1902, at Ridgeway, Winneshiek County, IA. She died Saturday, May 26, at MMSC, Marshalltown, where she had been a patient for the past week. She attained the age of 87 years.

She was the daughter of John and Caroline Mary Kuntz Reinhart. She was educated in county schools in Winneshiek County.

On November 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to William Veld at Ridgeway. They resided in rural Conrad from the time of their marriage until 1980 when they moved into Conrad. Recently she resided at the Senior Citizen Apartments, Conrad.

Gladys was a member of Alice Church of God, rural Conrad, where she taught Sunday School for many years as well as being a member of its WCSC, WCTU and led a Bible study group.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill, August, 1982, and three sisters.

Survivors include one son, John Veld, Idalou, TX; one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Laurence) Kline, Conrad; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Johnston Funeral Home, Conrad, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
