Ernest Katzer Rites Saturday

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Alice Cemetery, north of Conrad, for Ernest H. Katzer, 73, Route 1, Marshalltown, who died Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Community Hospital East, Marshalltown.

Mr. Katzer was born July 1, 1902, near Conrad, Grundy County, Iowa, a son of Frank and Lena Klar Katzer. He was married Jan. 1, 1933, to Estella George.

Survivors are his wife, and these children: Mrs. William (Dona J.) Brown, Marshalltown; Marvin Katzer, Ames; Mrs. Howard (Arlene) Brown, Garwin; Marilyn Katzer, Marshalltown; Mrs. William (Lila) Davis, Billings, Mont., and Gary Katzer, State Center. There are 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Frank Katzer Jr., and George Katzer, Conrad; Raymond Katzer, Grundy Center; Joe Katzer, Beaman; Charles Katzer, Doniphan, Mo.; and Mrs. Gilbert (Ida) Clark, Dike. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Mr. Katzer was reared and educated near Conrad, and lived on a farm near Conrad until 1965 when he moved to the Route 1 address.
