GALLAGHER, ALLOWAY, GRABIN

Elizabeth Alloway, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Alloway was born in Huntington County Penn., June 10, 1841. At the age of sixteen she came with her parents to Johnson County, Iowa, where soon after she united with The Church of God in which denomination she continued her membership until death.

On Oct. 12, 1867 she was united in marriage to James Grabin. To this union one son, Dr. C. H. Grabin of Spencer, Iowa, was born.

James Grabin died in September, 1869. On October 28, 1877 she was married to David Gallagher of Grundy County, Iowa. At which time she transferred her church membership to Alice. Two children were born from the second marriage; W. H. Gallagher, of Duluth, Minn. and Mrs. Vernie B. Haye, of Sutherland, Iowa. The step-children are Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman and J. I. Gallagher, Montevideo, Minn., Mrs. Emma Sheller, deceased, Mrs. Ida Houseman, Armstrong, Iowa, Rev. E. D. Gallagher, Wabasha, Minn., W. S. Gallagher, Austin, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Bockes, Conrad, Iowa, and Rev. L. E. Gallagher, Alpha, Minn.

Out of a family of eight children, Mrs. Gallagher has only one sister living, Mrs. Maggie Green of Shelby Co., Iowa.

Mrs. Gallagher enjoyed fairly good health until in August of last summer when she (unreadable).
