Rites Held For P. Andreessen

Paul Andreessen, 90, of Grundy Center, passed away Friday, March 2, at his home in Grundy Center.

Funeral services were held at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, Holland, on Monday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Larry Hoop officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Sents sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Where the Roses Never Fade". They were accompanied by Carolyn Stahl who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Paul Henze, Byron Seehusen, K. Allen Seehusen, Roger Seehusen, Randy Seehusen, and Mark Luhring.

John Seehusen and Herman Akkerman were ushers. Caroline Gibson, Vernice Schmidt and Janet Harberts were in charge of the floral arrangements.

Interment was in Colfax Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Holland.

Paul Andreessen was born November 18, 1899, in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Andrew and Reinsta Meents Andreessen. Paul grew up and was educated in Grundy County. He was united in marriage to Bena Tjepkes on December 16, 1920, in Grundy County, Iowa. Paul and Bena farmed north of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in Grundy County until 1957 when they retired and moved to Grundy Center. After his retirement, Paul worked for ASCS and then for Grundy County maintaining roadside parks. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bena, on October 18, 1986; one daughter, Roszella Seehusen; and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Seehusen; three sisters, Susie Tjepkes, Fannie Claassen and Annie Andreessen; one infant brother and one infant sister.

Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Ernest (Verlyn) Henze of Grundy Center, and Mrs. Joseph (JoAnn) Junker of Holland; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
